Cursor Origin early beta is rolling out to paid plans — repos, PRs, and GitHub sync inside Cursor.

Cursor's changelog: Origin begins rolling out today in early beta on all paid plans, with repos, pull requests, code browsing, and GitHub sync first; agent-native features "ship soon." Enterprise orgs whose admins opt out are excluded. Synced GitHub repos update in real time; pushes still go to GitHub, which stays the source of truth for anything started there. Vercel, Depot, and Buildkite integrations are listed.1

The same window held a resolved GitHub.com critical incident lasting 7.6 hours: ~20% error rates on web and API traffic, ~50% on archive and raw downloads, plus SAML, OIDC, SCIM, and Team Sync impact. Cursor reported a related major degradation (Automations, Cloud Agents, Codebase) for 6.1 hours.23

Wait

Treat Origin as a research preview: try on a throwaway org if you want agent-side repo UX, keep production source of truth on GitHub until data terms and agent-native merge features land. Enterprise admins who never decided on a second host should confirm the opt-out posture.

Deeper — what is and is not live
  • Create Origin-hosted repos from the Codebase tab; first codebase name becomes cursor.com/codebase/<name>.1
  • PR comments and reviews sync both ways on mirrored repos; merge from Cursor.1
  • Agents can answer, edit, update PRs, or push a branch from the same surface.1
  • GitHub outage: vendor postmortem promised; duration and peak rates above are from the status incident log.2
